i see they've done the same to Locking as they've done to Swinderby and flattened the domestic site but atleast you can see the foot prints of the blocks and if you've been there in the past you can retace steps and memoriesin your minds eye before the developers come in and turn it into unaffordable housing for people who can't afford big city prices

RAF Wattisham the phinal home of the RAF phantom fleet 25/02/1976-01/10/1992As you say, the 'footprints' of the main buildings are still visible and therefore it is possible to re-create the area.

I was in the 100th Entry at RAF Locking from January 1962 until we graduated in December 1964.

My Google Earth and Google Map projects are a tribute to the 100th Entry and are heavily biased, but may be of interest to others who trained at Locking during that era.

The Google Earth model is still quite basic. The brick accommodation blocks have been modelled to a reasonable accuracy and are fairly detailed, but other buildings are immature and still more are just blocked in. The Spitfire and the basic wooden hut model were found on the WWW, but I don't know who originated them; please contact me if they are yours and I will be happy to acknowedge you or remove them.

When viewing the Google Earth model, please make sure that 'Terrain' is UNchecked as the terrain around the demolished camp is unpredictable and so everything is positioned on the ground at 0 metres.

If anyone has any photos that I could use for reference, particularly the Astra cinema and the technical blocks, please let me know.

Any comments would be appreciated.
