The Zuk's House
Alexander John Zuk and his wife Barbara Caroline purchased this house in 1957. Barbara and john both grew up in Roosevelt and graduated from roosevelt high School. John was an employee at Grumman Aerospace Corporation until his retirement in 1991. John had worked for Grumman for 39 years at the time of his retirement. Barbara worked as a waitress and purchased Dolly's Coffee shop in Baldwin, NY in 1972. Brabara built the quiet coffee shop to be a very successful and profitable business. Barbara also worked part time as a travel agent and sold the coffee shop in 1990. John and Barbara retired to Cape Coral, FL in 1991.John and Barbara raised their 3 children in this house. John Alexander (Little John) the eldest was born in 1958, Janet Barbara was born in 1961, and James Steven (Jim) the youngest and most special was born in 1963. John, who attended Cure of Ars and graduated from SH Calhoun in 1976, took architechural courses at Farmingdale State University and eventually became an Iron Worker in Local 361. John recieved apprentice of the year honors in 1983 from the Union and worked on many strutures and high iron jobs in Manhatten including the Jacob Javits Convention Center.Janet also attended Cure of Ars and graduated from SH Calhoun High in 1979. Janet graduated from Florida State University in 1985 and worked for a short time at Eastern airlines and as a private investigator. After that time she worked for the State of New York, Department of Parole and Probation. She moved to Cape Coral Florida in 1998, and worked for the State of Florida, Department of Parole and Probation and now works for the Federal Department of porole and Probation. She has a son Johnathan and a daughter Jillian.Jim Attended Chatterton Grade School, Merrick Avenue Junior High and graduated from SH Calhoun High in 1981. After graduation Jim worked as a bartender in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl for two years including the 'Spring Break' hay days. Jim returned to New York in 1983 and attended Nassau Community College transferred to Oneonta State University graduating with a Bachelors degree in Business Economics in 1987. After working for New York Life Insurance in Manhatten in the treasury department for a year Jim returned to complete a pre med associates degree in 1989. Jim attended Life Chiropractic College in Marietta GA, and graduated with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Jim relocated to Clearwater FL after graduation and choose Cape Coral, FL to open his private practice in 1995 to be close to his family, where he is still located today. Jim is married to his wife Lisa and have two boys, Chistopher and James, and are expecteing their third child in June of '08 Sadly after a short illness, Barbara has passed to be with the Lord in March of 2007.
