The Mount hospital was where everyone in Northallerton area was born up until its closure in the late 1960s - it stood virtually empty until 2007 when permission was granted to make it into a residential nursing home as long as it was renovated and the addition was in keeping - it should be open and occupied by the end of 2007I was interested to read your post about this building. I have some further information about it. Your post says that it was used as a maternity hospital until the 1960s, I believe that it was still in use as a maternity hospital until the mid 1980s as I was born there in 1983 and my younger sister was born at the Friarage Hospital in 1987 after the unit was moved into the expanding hospital. I was also under the impression that up until the late 1990s the building was used to house NHS offices for the local trust. With it being empty from about 1999/2000ish.
