Yet many buildings have 'UN' written on their roofs...So can anyone explain this - your homework as seer often says

Information about Google Earth imageryTurns out thatUN observation post N-9was also based here...That is camp Navistar, but its just to the right of where you posted. What you have there is the former UN observation post, which is now a border facility for the Kuwaiti Ministry of the Interior. I was based out of Navistar in 2004.Thanks for the confirmation

Information about Google Earth imageryNavistar did pretty good food as I remember. We used to fill up our vehicles & our bellies there when returning from a "day out" in Kuwait at the water park.

Hi, my name's Charlie. Just dropping you a line to explain about Camp Navastar.
The UN compund is situated next to camp Navastar and is not inhabited by the US Military. We (the British) took it over (unofficially!) on Jun 03 and would often go into Navastar for food and to put laundry in to the laundret. My platoon was in charge of the Iragi Police station of Safwan just up the road. I won't bore you anymore but I hope this clarifies a few things.

Information about Google Earth imageryYes, you are correct, this is Camp Navistar. Many of the buildings there still have "UN" on the roofs dating back to the 1991-92 time-frame when the border crossing was controlled by the UN forces from Bangledesh (sp?).The marker is actually on an abandoned UN facility. Just to the south a couple of hundred meters is Camp NAVISTAR. They run right in to each other.I was also stationed at Camp Navistar in 05-06. Camp Navistar is no longer there. Shortly after we left they leveled it I was told. The hopes were to get K-Crossing up and running but I dont know if that ever happened either. Camp Cedar is now a 2 day run instead of a 10 hour trip.Dont know how they can move the supplies like they used to but.... well see.
